Fifteen year old scientific whiz kid Mitch Taylor has just been accepted into the Physics program at Pacific Tech, he personally recruited by celebrity scientist Dr. Jerry Hathaway so as to work in his hand picked team on a laser project for which Dr. Hathaway has been commissioned. Feeling like a fish out of water in high school, Mitch is hoping he will feel right at home working alongside his intellectual equals at university. From among his teammates, he doesn't much like but can understand Kent, a proverbial apple polisher who feels threatened by Mitch's presence in believing he was the top dog on the team until Mitch's arrival. Mitch was most looking forward to working with senior Chris Knight, who has been touted as the next Albert Einstein but is arguably most disappointed in him in he focusing his brilliant mind on infantile pursuits in not often being in the laser lab when he is supposed to be. Conversely, Chris, who could theoretically write his own ticket once he graduates, wants to take Mitch under his wing to show him to have some balance in life, Chris, who, once like Mitch himself was all work and no play to his considered self-detriment. As such, Mitch feels worse at Pacific Tech than he did at home. In part in making a connection with nineteen year old fellow "geek" Jordan Cochran, and learning about the mysterious man who lives in Mitch and Chris' closet, Mitch is able to find his place at Pacific Tech, on the team and in a true friendship with Chris. Mitch and Chris end up with a different focus when they come to an understanding that the laser project was meant to be used for a nefarious end goal, well known to Dr. Hathaway.—Huggo
