Vampire in Brooklyn (1995)

Action, Comedy, Fantasy, Horror, Romance
Eddie Murphy, Angela Bassett, Joanna Cassidy, W. Earl Brown
The Nosferatu (a race of vampires) were driven away from their homeland in Egypt. Most of them headed north and settled in the Carpathian Mountains in Transylvania, while others migrated south towards Africa. They eventually crossed the Atlantic Ocean, and settled in a Caribbean island. They spend centuries living within the Bermuda Triangle and feeding on travelers. But humans eventually wiped them out. Maximillian is the last surviving vampire and his time is running out. In search of a mate, he travels to Brooklyn. He knows this is where a female dhampir lives, daughter of a long-dead vampire and a female paranormal investigator. He needs to turn her into a real vampire in order for their race to survive. The dhampir in question is police detective Rita Veder, unaware of her own heritage. She has nocturnal habits, she experiences prophetic dreams, and her healing factor prevents her from getting sick or injured. But she considers herself to be a normal woman, and she is a pious Christian. Maximillian's attempts to seduce her are complicated by both her morality, and her growing attraction to her police partner Detective Justice.—Dimos I
