Lo perdido (2020)

Action, Biography, Documentary, Drama, History

My mother has died. Her name was Maria. Her children, we, Raúl and Santiago, discover among the objects left by our mother hundreds of photographs: of our maternal grandfather, of Regina, our great-aunt, of our mother, of our father ... And through those photographs, and with the help from an old camera - my grandfather's inheritance -, I, -along several trips to the places where those photographs were taken-, seeks to recover and not lose my memory ... that of my family. What elements make up that memory? Is it an old photo camera? Are the photographs that my mother, father, grandfather o Regina did or did I keep? Are the spaces, in which they lived, those that tell us about them? Maybe in the trips and interviews I do in Switzerland, Tarancón, Lozoyuela, Madrid or Barcelona? Or in the letters of José Sinde, a republican, Regina's first love, or those of great-grandfather Alejandro? Or in the figure of a Scottish brigadier, Allan Craig, killer in the civil war? Appear in the dreams or my nightmares? ¿In loves that could not be? In a fatherhood that will not be? In the relationship that my mother had with three girls that she cared for? Whay did she have with one of her childhood friends, Maricarmen, or with Lorenzo, her brother? In the songs that remember them? In an Italian couple that works in the same place where my parents did? In the relationship she had with her husband, our father? In the education that both of us received? In which received our parents? In the end, the two brothers will have to reflect on their memory, our memory and on what they have preserved and lost.
