They beat Romania 3-2. The people knew that winning the world cup would bolster the dictatorship, yet the entire country supported their team. They beat Peru 4-2 in the Quarter Finals. Semi-Final is against Uruguay, to whom Brazil lost in the final of the 1950 world cup. The nation panics. Brazil was lucky to be 1-1 at half time.
