Rupert Pupkin (De Niro) desperately wants to become a comedian and approaches popular talk show host Jerry Langford (Jerry Lewis) for a chance to perform on his show. After being given the run-around, Rupert teams up with his psychotic Langford-obsessed friend Masha (Bernhard) to kidnap Jerry in hopes of finally getting to perform his stand-up routine.
